Block Rockin’ Beats

This past weekend, we were honored to play at the annual block party on Mansfield Ave. in Morton Grove. Eric’s family and their neighbors are a wonderful, generous group of people. This was our 3rd time and it offers us the opportunity to cut loose from our typical stage show. We effectively become a cover band for a day. We played 3 sets of music beginning around 4pm. The first set was all of our own material, but sets 2 and 3 were all cover songs that range from current alt-rock to classic rock to old-school Polish Rock! Yes, you read me right – “Polish Rock”. Bobby, Andy and I are first generation Polish Americans, and we know some old rock songs from the mother-land. Bobby especially. He takes the lead on those.

The weather was just perfect, the food and drinks - excellent. The kids had a blast as well, riding their bikes up and down the street. A visit from the local firefighters “cooled” them down. By the time the sun gave up, everyone was getting pretty comfortable, and with the addition of some great stage lights, we had a little dance party going.
